SWIFT - Swift Command App - Troubleshooting

NOTE: This app is now deprecated and will no longer work with newer vehicles or hardware updates. Please see our other articles for information on the newer Swift Command 2019 and 2024 apps.
The 2021 update to the Swift Command 2019 app has brought significant updates to the functionality, stability, and speed of the Bluetooth communication with your Swift Caravan. To allow you to make the most of the Swift Command app, this troubleshooting article explains how to address issues that may impact usage of the app on modern devices.

Bluetooth and Remote Features

Is my device compatible?

Your device must support Bluetooth 4 (or Bluetooth Low Energy BLE) standard. If you are unsure, there are apps available to check Bluetooth connectivity and compatibility.
LightBlue® — Bluetooth Low Energy
Using the LightBlue Bluetooth App, if the device is compatible it should display a Bluetooth source called SWIFT_BLE. If SWIFT_BLE is not found then the device being used is most likely not compatible.

The buttons are greyed out

The remote feature buttons will be greyed out if the App doesn't know your account and vehicle details. If you would like to use the remote remote features section of the App you need to enter your Swift Command account details (Email and Password) on the App account page and select your vehicle.

System Component Checks

If your device is compatible with the Bluetooth then it is recommended the following components checks are conducted.
  1. Ensure the Leisure Battery has been fitted and (if required) the mains powered charger is turned ON.
  2. At the EC600 or EC800 Power Supply Unit, check that the system is powered up. (Shutdown button is in the IN position)
  3. At the EC600 or EC800 Control Panel, turn the power on.
    1. On the EC600 Control Panel:
      1. Scroll to the EC620 screen and press the 'select' button (right arrow) to page through the system information.
      2. Check that the information matches the following (or is a higher number).
        1. 90C90 (caravan) or 91C91 (motorhome)
        2. SW13
        3. Mxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (where the x's are replaced by a long IMEI number, not just zero's)
      3. If any of the numbers are lower than those shown (or if the M number is all zero's), please contact Sargent for help.
    2. On the EC800 Control Panel:
      1. From the Home Screen, press the settings cog in the bottom right corner to access the settings.
      2. Check that the information matches the following.
        1. EC630 No: 34 (or Higher)
        2. IMEI No: Mxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (where the x's are replaced by a long IMEI number, not just zero's)
      3. If any of the numbers are lower than those shown or if the M number is all zero's or if the information isn't shown, please contact Sargent for help.

Pairing and connecting your device

The pairing process for Apple IOS and Android are different. Please see the Swift Command App user guide before trying to pair a device.

This is a one-off process and does not need to be repeated once completed.
NOTE: Do not get confused between the pair process and the connect / reconnect process (especially on Apple IOS as the same screen is used).
It is possible that the App may disconnect after the first pairing, this is normal and does happen on some devices. Please reconnect and continue using the App.
If your device goes to sleep, the screen auto-locks, you change to another app or another paired device connects to the system, the Bluetooth connection will be disconnected. you will need to reconnect when you wish to use the Swift Command App again.
On iOS you can change the auto-lock time (settings/general/auto-lock) or on Android you can change the sleep time (Settings/display/screen timeout, sleep or similar).
If you use the remote features part of the App whilst connected via Bluetooth in your caravan or motorhome, the Bluetooth connection will be disconnected and disabled for 5 minutes to avoid any conflicting signals.

Bluetooth reset process

If you are still experiencing Bluetooth connectivity problems, please follow the steps below:

Bluetooth Disabled

In modern versions of the iOS operating system, Apple have significantly increased the amount of control users have over what components of a device an app can use. Unfortunately, this can lead to confusion when permissions to critical components, such as Bluetooth, are denied to an app. In the event the Swift Command app has its access to Bluetooth denied, tapping the Control Panel button will result in the pop-up shown above. In the event you face this issue, please follow the following steps.

1. Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled System Wide

In the system Settings app, ensure that the Bluetooth status displays ‘On’. If it does not, tap to enter the Bluetooth settings page and set the Bluetooth toggle to the on position.

2. Ensure Bluetooth Permissions are Granted

In the system Settings app, scroll to the list of your installed apps at the bottom and locate the entry for Swift Command. Tap the entry to view the permissions page for the Swift Command 2019 app.

If Bluetooth permissions have been denied to the Swift Command app, this page on your device will display as not enabled. Please toggle the switch on the Bluetooth entry to grant permission to the app, so the background of the slider is green.

Now return to the Swift Command app. If you have an established pairing with your Swift Control Panel, tapping the Control Panel icon will allow you to connect. If you are yet to pair, tapping the icon should bring up the pop-up shown below.
