My system shuts down by its self randomly

My system shuts down by its self randomly

One cause of the system shutting its self-down is over voltage. If your Sargent system detects a voltage higher then 15V the system will shut down.

Common cause

A common cause for over voltage is a faulty solar regulator but you could also have a fault with your mains charger.

How do I know if my solar regulator is faulty?

  1. Does the random shutting down only happen during the day when it is sunny and the solar regulator would be active?
  2. You could disconnect the solar input from your system, or cover up the solar panel to see if problem stops occurring.
  3. You could measure the voltage coming out of the solar regulator but this can be hard to pick up because the output of the regulator can fluctuate depending on shading that can occur on the solar panel from clouds for example.

How do I know if my charger is faulty?

If you have a fixed voltage charger the voltage should be no higher than 13.8V.
If you have a PX300 installed on your system The link below will direct you to the PX300 product page where you will find a downloadable attachment to check the operation of the charger.
