Introduction
When the
EC400 was introduced in 2010 there were two versions of PSU (The EC440 low spec
and EC445 High spec) and two matching versions of control panel (The EC441 low
spec and EC446 High spec).
The EC445 PSU
and EC446 control panel were fitted into caravans featuring an on-board water
tank along with multiple tank filling arrangements (filling pump and solenoid),
and so had an LCD screen on the PSU allowing various settings to be
changed. One of these was ‘Autofill’. Likewise, the EC446 control panel had a water
level display.
The EC440
PSU and EC441 versions were fitted together in caravans not having an internal
water tank, so the EC440 didn’t have the LCD display and the EC441 didn’t have
a water level display.
These were the
combinations used in nearly all caravans.
However, some mid-range vans not fitted with water tanks had the option
of fitting a water tank later so they were fitted with the EC445 PSU and the EC441
control panel.
The problem and very simple solution
In the vans fitted
with the EC445/EC441 combination, it is possible to switch on the Autofill
option. If this happens the system
thinks the water pump is filler pump, and so after around 10 mins it turns it
off (the length of time is another of the settings available in the EC445) and
you have to turn the pump button OFF and ON again at the control panel in order
for it to work again.
We have had
customers book a paid repair in the past because they thought they had a faulty
PSU, there is no need to inconvenience yourself doing this.
If you are
having this issue, simply go to the PSU, and press the yellow button to scroll
to the TANKFILL screen and press the red button, which will then show OFF in
the display. Your pump will now stay
active all the time the pump button is ON.
